XXIX International Ornithological Congress in Mexico 2026

Dear members of the IOU, dear ornithologists,

the new location of the XXIX International Ornithological Congress has been selected and will be Campeche, Mexico, in October 2026.

The International Ornithological Union will organize the meeting with the Society for Study and Conservation of Birds in Mexico (CIPAMEX), the leading Mexican Ornithological organization. Campeche is a small city in the Yucatan peninsula near the Mayan rainforest, a biodiversity hotspot. Mexico is the 11th country in bird species diversity. CIPAMEX has organized annual or biannual national ornithological congresses in the past 30 years.

In the coming months, a Scientific Program Committee will be established to produce the invitations to organize symposia and other activities for this event.

We will share more information as we receive.

With best wishes and kind regards
